Over the years I have learned that what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it.

1950s Crystal Bracelet

Given to me as a gift.

How to wear: I call this my prism bracelet. It’s best worn with bright bold apparel because a different set of colors come out depending on how the light hits the crystal.

The Mason Jar

Purchased from Fishs Eddy

How to use: There’s a mason jar craze hitting the DIY blogs, so I decided to feature my first ‘vintage for the home’ piece. Invented and patented by John Landis Mason (a Philadelphia tinsmith) in 1858, the glass jar was originally used in canning to preserve food. Today, mason jars are the perfect throwback decorative accessory for any home or office. I’ve used mine as flower vases, cork containers, or even storage cases at work.

Create your own visual style… let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others.

1930s Broach

Inherited from my grandma in 2001.

How to wear: A broach can always be worn the traditional way (pinned to a jacket or sweater), but I decided to make it into a necklace by attaching it to a gold chain.

Oh, never mind the fashion. When one has a style of one’s own, it is always twenty times better.

1980s Floral Dress

Purchased at Etsy.com.

How to wear: Nothing says “it’s Spring!” better than this dress. It always makes a bold statement, so it’s perfect for weddings or special occasions. I made a matching fascinator for last year’s Kentucky Derby party.

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows & the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.

1950s Fur Stole

Purchased at a sample sale. Found in the “vintage scraps box”.

How to wear: This piece turns my casual jackets into dress coats, with the help of a few safety pins.
